100% Filipino

"We should not forget even the tiniest detail of what the heroes of this country have done in order to bring peace in our country and justice in our name"- Nina
*this line will be encountered in the last part of this entry*

Dr. Jose P. Rizal : National Hero
*pag-aalay ng may katha*

-- "Never give up."yes, that was Rizal's mentality as he fought the perils of the world during his time. He is one of the well known men of our country who fought for justice through his writings like the "Noli me tangere"(Touch me Not) which gives most of us a hard time to understand due to its' complexity of language.  But do we really know what it implies? what it signifies as a beacon of truth for the Filipinos before and even today? Do we see the reality of life in it? Some still look it up, but to me, it just takes some common sense and open mindedness.

When this book was found out, it was used against Jose Rizal's life. They judged him over and over again just to bring down the Filipino name. But he did what was right, and everybody knew the right path. Unfortunately at that time, Spaniards were putting a leash around our necks so that every thing we say will be favorable to them; making us like puppets. But gaahh who cares right? at least some survived?. NO. that is not the point. The point is, that this book shows us the reality in our culture. We have this certain kind of mentality that makes us feel inferior to another culture: American. You see? nowadays, do you see people in Baro't Saya's? in Camisa's? walking down the street? no! Because we think that wearing those, is "out of style" or corny. And yes, i did not forget the late Francis M. Do you know what sets him apart from other rap artists around the world? It is the fact that he is nationalistic. He takes pride in his country even if he was born in America. But some don't appreciate that, Most of the people here think that the Americans do it better in all fields. In education, in work, in music,in clothing and even in language. We think that we are only second best. Ever since.. well.. EVER, we have been colonized by several groups: the Japanese, Spanish, etc..

With Rizal's book itself, gives us a clear idea on how we want our country and lives to be. With the phrase "Touch me Not" as a title, he already gives a sneak peek on what he wants to indicate in his book. He wanted freedom and the truth form the colonizers. The same needs we want until now but we falter from gaining our goal; Like a man clinging on to a cliff which leads to the depths of the splashing and raging rapids of the deep infinite ocean, with his breath staggering, he sees a rope on one side accessible when he reaches just a bit further, but to him, death seemed like an option; thinking that grabbing the rope was futile for his wounded and abused arms were weary and tired, he jumped into the dark abyss of the ocean, of failure.  He did not think much about his options, he only chose the easiest way to go. and that's where the wrong part comes in. We realize that in this life, we need to choose the better and wiser path rather than the easiest path.

We have to learn to stand up on our own feet, and stop thinking about what others think, we have to think about what we think is right and prove the other races wrong that we can't have our full dignity about ourselves, the Filipino people. We have to follow as what our ancestors of a long time ago have tried and tried to do : to bring sexy back to the Philippines. :) haha. Let's not get side tracked, shan't we.? I was just trying to break the *too much* seriousness of this whole blog entry. We should not forget even the tiniest detail of what the heroes of this country have done in order to bring peace in our country and justice in our name. We should not forget the hardships, the victories and even the failures of our own people.

Then and there, we  learn from these mishaps and make our tomorrow better than yesterday.

Monday, Monday.

I've been writing several poems and short stories these past few weeks. Well, here's one i made for Mondays. Here we go..

FLAG CEREMONY-7:00 AM- "Good Morning Students!"-Ruben Cenita

Ahh MONDAY..
You'd see the dew on the trees .. The dark eye bags and wet shampooed hair of the students. You'll smell the newly gelled hair, freshly waxed shoes and those people with B.O. would don their strongest perfume but still, you could smell them from a mile! You see the notorious and ever infamous SCC President on the hallway with his posse  ;You would even witness the cutting of hair (of emo people mostly). Sir Cenita will let the late comers proceed to the lounge, and we'd clap for the early birds. Daily announcements will be heard all over the school and you'll feel the annoying heat of the sun on your freshly ironed uniforms and you'll be stepping on wet cemented ground with small puddles of the basketball court where we hold our ceremonies with throat throbbing high-pitched songs which i think are unnecessary. Ahh yes, this is monday.. the start of a new week full of mind busting and eyebrow burning quizzes, and if you're lucky, you would meet the school giraffes too( if you know what i mean). They're not as rare as you think. they usually appear during those exams in Chemistry or Physics.:) Ha-ha, let's move on..

CLASSROOM SCENE - The Yawns and the occasional Eye rubbing @_@

*stretches* Okay.. So. the students aren't that noisy yet because they are still OBVIOUSLY sleepy.. The clattering of falling G-tecs on the musky red colored floor tiles are heard and the screeching of chair arranging of those who want to sit near their friends will be heard.

RECESS [AM] - 9:30 am- Hell-ohhh Wowowee stampede -_-

The cliques, the couples, and the never dying paparazzi..:) ha-ha.. it's definitely Recess time.. the most awaited time of the students. You would be seeing couples walking side-by-side like they have glue in between them or something,  cliques walking along the corridors laughing about the gossip they just heard and the ever vain students whom i just can't seem to know where they get their camera phone's memory cards for all those pictures they take of themselves. The canteen is jam-packed once again with starving students. The Siopao stand never fails to satisfy the taste buds. Steam fills the damp air from its' small but noticeable stand. Both teachers and students line up for those.. and look, someone got fish ball sauce in her hair! EWW. :)

CLASSROOM SCENE - Here we have the sprouting giraffes! :))

Oh I think we all know what happens in a classroom. The noise, the anticipation.. the "May i go outs" of the bored ones, and the rowdy boys at the back just cant keep their butts in their chairs and they just love getting their attention.

LUNCH BREAK- 11:50 AM- rain. rain. rain.

Riiiiingg!!!! a flurry of impatient students once again quickly fill up the dusty orange hallways. Girls would swoon over their crushes in the higher years and they just couldn't get enough, because this is the time that they would have to squeeze through the noisy crowd with those guys waiting for the guard lady to let them out. Once she allows the students to go,Popumbrellas in all shapes, colors and sizes and the occasional squealing due to the splattering of road water on your skirts and pants would be camouflaged sooner or later because of the moss green color of the uniform bottoms or the rain water too :P

RECESS PM- (i dunno what time)- jam sessions

The cliques once again go visit the canteen or the lounge for those casual talks about what tests they had or what the topics are in the next hair raising exams. :))

DISMISSAL - 4:20 PM- Combs,Mirrors and Lip gloss come alive!

You'd observe that the muffled color of the amber sunset would turn your skin tone redder than the usual and the smell of fish balls would fill the air once more. The scattered chocolate cream tube wrappers would be seen everywhere on the damp ground. The anxious Freshmen running across the court shouting to their playmates and the ever hyperactive basket ball players' beads of sweat trickle down their heat slicked bodies fill the school scene. teachers heading back to the faculty room with piles and piles of paper work needed to be checked and students following them asking for make-up exams rampage the office. AND yes i did not forget the groups of fiends retreating to their posts with their wallets and cell phones in hand. The cars start coming in and park on the sides. Some students even dare to check themselves on the car windows.. even when there is a driver on the driver seat of course . That's why it pays to have sleeping  drivers with dark shades and with their feet up on the dashboard in parked cars rather than visiting the girls comfort rooms which are usually packed with people with powdered faces during dismissal time :P The goodbyes and the "beso-besos" are to be witnessed a lot at this time of the day. Tricycle calling and the "hand waving" for the jeepneys are evident in the streets. As the night draws nearer, the the lights grow brighter in the city. Students also sit in the park with their friends playing the guitar or drawing anime' s. but as the clock strikes 7 PM, they all go home anticipating that Tuesday would be better for them.

10:26 start - 11:20 finished
:) by me. raw material. unedited.
